Police have arrested a 44-year-old suspect accused of sexually harassing a female police officer on a public transport bus.
The suspect, identified as a private security officer from Welimada, has been remanded until February 22 by the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court.
Police said the victimized police officer was part of an operation targeting the prevention of sexual harassment against women and children on public transport.
This initiative runs parallel to the ongoing anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’, with authorities encouraging individuals subjected to such harassment to report incidents via the ‘109’ hotline.
