Consumers in Sri Lanka will soon feel the pinch of rising egg prices as the All Ceylon Egg Traders’ Association revealed plans to implement price increases, effective today, February 12th.
Buddhika Weerasena, the Secretary of the Association, pointed to various factors contributing to the decision, including escalating costs associated with egg production and distribution.
As a result, consumers can anticipate adjustments in both wholesale and retail prices across the country.
Beginning today, the wholesale price per egg is set to surge to Rs. 58, marking a noticeable increase from previous rates. Concurrently, consumers purchasing eggs at retail outlets can expect to pay around Rs. 63 per egg, reflecting a corresponding rise in retail prices.
