A devastating fire tore through a private warehouse situated in the Palanwaththa area of Piliyandala earlier today, resulting in the complete destruction of the facility.
The warehouse, which housed crucial equipment belonging to a telephone company, was engulfed in flames, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
According to officials from the Piliyandala Police, the fire broke out during the afternoon hours, swiftly consuming the premises and causing extensive damage to the stored equipment.
Initial reports indicate that approximately ten fire trucks from neighboring areas, including Kotte, Dehiwala, and the Colombo Municipality, rushed to the scene to battle the inferno.
Efforts to extinguish the flames were met with challenges due to the intensity of the fire and the presence of valuable telecommunications equipment within the warehouse.
