Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will host the Uganda national cricket team for a 14-day training camp ahead of their upcoming seven T20 matches.
Uganda, who recently secured qualification for the T20 World Cup, arrived in Sri Lanka today.
SLC will provide facilities including access to an international ground (GICS, Galle) and a team from the High Performance Center Development Squads for the T20 games. They will also offer logistical support such as umpires, scorers, match meals, medical assistance, and other necessities.
This initiative, undertaken as a goodwill gesture towards an Associate member of the International Cricket Council, follows a request made by the Ugandan Cricket Association to the Speaker of the Sri Lanka Parliament, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, during the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth held in Uganda from January 3 to 6, 2024.
