A person found in possession of a cache of mobile phones, accessories, and watches valued at over Rs. 20 million, illegally imported into Sri Lanka without duty payment, was arrested at Vihara Mawatha in Kolonnawa by the Police Special Task Force (STF).

According to the STF, the confiscated items included 525 assorted mobile phones, ten smartwatches, and a collection of mobile phone accessories.

The raid was conducted based on intelligence received by officers from the Police Special Task Force at the Gonahena camp.

Subsequently, both the suspect and the seized goods were handed over to the Sri Lanka Customs clearance office in Colombo for further investigation. The individual arrested in connection with the case is a 31-year-old resident of Colombo 12.

The operation was carried out by a team of police officers led by IP H.P.M.S.K. Weerakkodi of the Police Special Task Force at the Gonahena Camp.
