Three police officers from the Wolfendhal Police Station have been interdicted following an incident where two suspects were hospitalised after consuming a packet of milk provided by a visitor.
The detained suspects, involved in a recent shooting in Jinthupitiya, were admitted to Colombo National Hospital on on Wednesday after ingesting the milk, resulting in loss of consciousness.
Police suspect that the milk contained cyanide, leading to the suspects' illness.
One of the hospitalized suspects, Chamindu Darshan (27) from Serunuwara, is identified as the shooter in the January 24th incident in Jinthupitiya, while the other, Lakshitha Fernando (29) from Colombo-13, acted as an informant.
Hospital sources said both are in critical condition.
