A detainee of Trincomalee prisons who had received serious injuries during a clash with a fellow detainee succumbed to his injuries while under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Trincomalee general hospital.
The deceased Mohamed Ali Uvaiz Mohamed Ubhayathulla was a resident of Kinniya.
Police said the two detainees had been on remand in connection with drug offenses and an altercation between them had resulted in the clash.
Trincomalee police are conducting further investigations.
