The police have arrested three suspects, including two females, wanted in connection with an incident of stealing money by breaking into a financial institution.
The group was arrested during an investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Puttalam Division.
On January 31, they were accused of breaking into a financial institution in the Chilaw police area and stealing Rs. 7,090,939.
The police initiated an investigation into the incident and apprehended the suspects yesterday (04) in the Kollupitiya area.
The main suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Deniyaya.
The two female suspects, arrested under charges of aiding and abetting the incident, were apprehended in the Madivela area.
Police said that the suspects, aged 33 and 46, are residents of the Pasgoda and Kaduwela areas.
The Chilaw Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
