Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 25-year-old American woman during her visit to Sri Lanka.
It was reported that the suspects also pilfered gold jewelry worth approximately Rs. 6,000 US dollars from the victim.
The Crimes Investigation Division of the Kandy Police made the arrests, including that of a tourist guide.
The incident was reported to the Nanu Oya Police, with the victim claiming she was sexually abused at a guest house in Kandy on January 29.
According to her statement, she had consumed alcohol with the suspects that night and alleged being drugged, leading to unconsciousness.
Upon regaining consciousness, she discovered herself unclothed on a bed.
The victim also reported the theft of a gold bracelet worth US$2,400, a necklace worth US$3,600, and a pair of diamond-studded earrings.
Following investigations, the suspects were arrested.
