Severe lightning is expected to accompany thundershowers at various locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts, according to the forecast from the Meteorology Department.
The department has also forecasted the possibility of fairly heavy showers, surpassing 100 mm, in specific areas.
Given the potential for temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the department urges the public to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by lightning activity.
