While acknowledging that the presence of Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Chairman Professor Ranjith Bandara's son at the last committee meeting was inappropriate, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena assured that an investigation into the matter will be conducted.

"It is incorrect if Professor Ranjith Bandara's son, Kanishka Bandara, participated in the committee meeting on Tuesday. It has been indicated that he attended in the capacity of Professor Bandara's media officer. Nonetheless, a thorough investigation will be carried out," stated the Speaker in response to queries raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and other opposition members.

MP Premadasa alleged that the COPE chief had engaged in a conflict of interest by not disclosing his connections to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
