The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) arrested the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Nilaveli Police Crimes Division in connection with drug trafficking.
Upon his arrest, the OIC was found in possession of 25.81 grams of the illicit drug Ice. Subsequently, he was presented before the Trincomalee Magistrate’s Court on Saturday and detained for further questioning at the Police Narcotics Bureau.
The officers from the Trincomalee Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau formally charged the sub-inspector under the Criminal Procedure Code No. 125 for transporting 25 grams of Ice.
The arrest took place while he was riding a motorcycle near a hotel in Alleswatta in Uppuveli.
In response to the arrest, the Trincomalee Police Superintendent issued the interdiction of the arrested officer.
