Former Sri Lankan cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga has called for a comprehensive investigation into the factors that led to the banning of cricket in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to the media after a program in Gampaha, Ranatunga expressed his concerns about the influence of certain individuals and emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

During his interaction with the media, Ranatunga asserted his commitment to bringing cricket back on the right track.

"I will try to get cricket back on the right track by going to the court with my own money," he said.

Ranatunga directed blame towards the cricket administration of the country, holding them responsible for the deterioration of the sport in Sri Lanka.

"The cricket administration of this country should be responsible for ruining cricket in this country. I don't need to tell what those guys have done. The Auditor General's report says what kind of destruction has been done," he said.
