Sri Lanka stands to lose $50 million if the International Cricket Council (ICC) does not lift the ongoing suspension against the country's membership, according to the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Shammi Silva.
The ICC had allowed the island nation to host the U19 Cricket World Cup, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ICC in 2024, the Women's World Cup in 2027 and co-host the T20 World Cup in 2026 together with India.
However, measures were required to be taken to assure the government of Sri Lanka would support these events.
"They don't have that confidence anymore," said Silva, adding that the AGM has already been cancelled. The suspension was imposed by the ICC on Sri Lanka with immediate effect on Friday.
