Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya has directed two private insurance companies to temporarily suspend two local insurance policies linked to Dinesh Schaffter for a week.

The purpose behind this order is to investigate whether Schaffter has designated a third party as the beneficiary for these policies.

Schaffter, formerly a director of Janashakthi Group, is under scrutiny in connection with the recent court ruling categorizing his death as a crime.

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court, on November 1, concluded that Dinesh Schaffter's demise was caused by external pressure applied to his neck and facial area.

This determination stemmed from the findings of a five-member experts' committee, consisting of Judicial Medical Officers, tasked with uncovering the true cause of Schaffter's death. The suspension of the insurance policies is a step towards supporting ongoing investigations into this high-profile case.
