In a successful operation, three Bangladeshi individuals were apprehended at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) as they tried to flee to Malaysia using counterfeit Malaysian visas.
The suspects, aged 41, 37, and 19, all Bangladeshi nationals, were taken into custody by a team of officers from the Immigration Border Enforcement Unit at the airport's departure terminal.
Having arrived in Sri Lanka from Kathmandu, Nepal, on a visit visa, the individuals had planned to board an Indigo Airlines flight to Hyderabad, India, this afternoon.
