COLOMBO (ZiraDaily) - Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has clarified the reasons behind the appointment of an Interim Committee for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

Ranasinghe emphasized the need to bring cricket in Sri Lanka back to a position where victories can be achieved in the near future.

The Minister stated that the committee was appointed with two main goals in mind. Firstly, it aims to investigate fraud and corruption that may have occurred within SLC. Secondly, it aims to stabilize the situation of the game in the country and work towards achieving victories in cricket once again.

Ranasinghe expressed confidence in the appointment of the committee's chairman, stating that he believes the right person has been chosen for the role. Additionally, he mentioned that two Supreme Court judges and a High Court judge have been appointed to investigate any irregularities that may have taken place in the previous period.

The Minister also revealed that he has instructed the chairman of the interim committee to handle the administration, development, and legal aspects of Sri Lanka Cricket by appointing sub-committees.

By appointing this Interim Committee, the Sports Minister aims to address any issues within SLC and pave the way for future success in Sri Lankan cricket.
