COLOMBO (ZiraDaily) - Arjuna Ranatunga, former Sri Lanka cricket captain and Chairman of the newly-formed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Interim Committee, has made a resolute commitment to transform the sport and regain the support of Sri Lankan cricket enthusiasts.
Ranatunga addressed concerns raised by journalists regarding reports that the Cabinet would discuss the appointment of the interim committee. Undeterred by potential challenges, he stated, "Let the Cabinet decide anything. Let it decide to allow robbers to administer cricket. We will get on with our task."
The former captain firmly believes that under his leadership, Sri Lanka cricket will once again achieve greatness. "We will put Sri Lankan cricketers into a winning position once again," he affirmed.
Minister of Sports, Roshan Ranasinghe, defended his decision to appoint the interim committee, emphasizing the goal of restoring cricket administration and building a strong national team capable of winning matches. "I have appointed an able team to restore Sri Lanka's cricket," he explained.
Ranatunga's pledge to transform Sri Lankan cricket comes at a crucial time when the sport is facing challenges and a decline in support from fans
