Effective today (November 04), Litro Gas Lanka, one of the leading gas distributors in the country, has announced a price hike for its domestic LP gas cylinders.

The decision to raise prices comes in response to the recent surge in global market prices for liquefied petroleum gas.

The revised prices for various cylinder sizes are as follows:

- 12.5kg cylinder: Priced at Rs. 3,565, an increase of Rs. 95.

- 5kg cylinder: Priced at Rs. 1,431, reflecting a Rs. 38 increase.

- 2.3kg cylinder: Priced at Rs. 668, which has risen by Rs. 18.

Muditha Peiris, the chairman of Litro Gas Lanka, stated that the price adjustment was unavoidable due to the escalating costs in the global market. The company has been monitoring the situation closely over the past months and had previously adjusted prices four times this year, while reducing them on five occasions. Notably, Litro Gas did not revise prices in March and August of this year.

As the country relies on imported LP gas, the local market is directly affected by fluctuations in global prices. Therefore, the decision to increase prices aims to maintain the company's operations amidst the rising costs and safeguard its sustainability in the long term.
