President Ranil Wickremesinghe has reportedly granted another service extension to Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne.
This extension comes on the heels of a three-week extension granted by the President on October 13, following the expiration of Wickramaratne's previous three-month extension on October 09.
Wickramaratne's term as the IGP had initially ended on June 26 of this year but was extended multiple times.
As of the current seniority list, Senior DIGs Nilantha Jayawardena, L.S. Pathinayake, and Deshabandu Thennakoon are prominent contenders for the position of IGP.
