Former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, who had been in remand custody for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing damage to two other vehicles, was granted bail by Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Sanjaya L.M. Wijesinghe today.
He was released on bail with a surety bond of Rs. 100,000 and a cash bail of Rs. 2,500.
The police informed the court that the investigation into the accident had been completed, and there were no objections to granting bail to the former Senior DIG.
Ravi Seneviratne was arrested by the Wellawatta police after causing damage to two vehicles parked in front of a hotel on Muhudu Mawatha in Wellawatta on Sunday, October 29. A breathalyzer test confirmed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
