The number of Dengue cases in 2023 has exceeded 68,000, as reported by the Sri Lanka's Epidemiology Unit.
As of October 30, a total of 68,114 Dengue cases have been documented this year. The district with the highest number of cases is Colombo, with 14,401 reported cases.
The Western Province has recorded the highest number of cases among the provinces, with over 32,000 cases. In October alone, there have been 3,631 reported cases of Dengue.
Since January 2023, there have been 39 reported fatalities related to Dengue.
Health officials anticipate a further increase in Dengue cases due to the current rainy conditions.
As a result, individuals are urged to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and eliminate mosquito breeding sites to prevent the spread of Dengue.
