The Navy apprehended two suspects transporting approximately 104 kilograms of Kerala cannabis during a search operation at the coastal area of Vaddukoddai, Jaffna.
The operation, carried out today by SLNS Uththara and SLNS Agbo naval establishments under the Northwestern Naval Command, led to the interception of a three-wheeler on a road in the coastal vicinity of Vaddukoddai, raising suspicions. A subsequent search by naval personnel revealed around 104 kilograms of Kerala cannabis, divided into 50 parcels and contained within three sacks. Additionally, two suspects were taken into custody in connection with this incident.
The estimated street value of the confiscated Kerala cannabis is believed to exceed Rs. 41 million.
The arrested suspects, aged 25 and 40, are identified as residents of Madagal and Kilinochchi, respectively. They, along with the seized Kerala cannabis and the three-wheeler, have been handed over to the Vaddukoddai Police for further legal action.
