Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly defrauding Rs. 16.3 million from the public by offering false promises of employment opportunities in Japan.
The investigation into this fraudulent activity was initiated by the Kuliyapitiya Special Crimes Investigation Unit, responding to seven complaints regarding the scam.
The suspects, aged 35 and 57, and residents of the Imbulgoda and Halmillawewa areas, were arrested by the Kuliyapitiya Special Crimes Investigation Unit on Wednesday.
The Kuliyapitiya Special Crimes Investigation Unit conduting further investigations to unravel the full extent of the fraudulent operation.
