Sinharage Saminda Silva, widely known as 'Kudu Anju,' a notorious figure in the Sri Lankan underworld, has been released from custody by a French court.

His arrest in France, which took place in April, was prompted by his alleged involvement in a range of organized criminal activities, including the murder of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council member Ranjan de Silva and substantial drug trafficking operations.

'Kudu Anju' had been the subject of an Interpol Red Notice due to his criminal activities while hiding abroad.

The release of 'Kudu Anju' led to the arrest of four individuals by the Mt. Lavinia Police on October 26.

These individuals were taken into custody for reportedly hosting a 'drug-fueled party' and setting off firecrackers, supposedly to celebrate the release of the notorious criminal.
