Sri Lanka is set to enter its 12th round of negotiations on the proposed Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) with India, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

The two countries have held 11 rounds of bilateral talks from 2016 to 2019 with the aim of broadening and deepening the existing India-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (ISFTA).

According to the PMD, this comprehensive agreement has a broader scope than the current ISLFTA, underscoring the deepening economic ties between the two nations.

In a statement, it stated that the government is placing a strong emphasis on two key components: expanding supply capacity and broadening market access.
