According to provisional data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Sri Lanka has seen a total of 77,763 tourist arrivals in the first 22 days of October. This brings the year-to-date total to 1,094,019 visitors.
During this period, the average daily tourist arrivals have shown improvement, reaching 3,534 compared to the previous week's average of 3,359.
Furthermore, the weekly average for the third week of October has seen a significant increase, reaching 31,265. This is a notable improvement compared to the second and first weeks, which recorded 23,434 and 23,073 arrivals, respectively.
Despite this positive trend, Sri Lanka has achieved only 53 percent of the arrival target set by tourism authorities for October. The target stands at 147,789 arrivals.
As in previous months, India remains the largest contributor of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka, accounting for 26 percent of the total arrivals with 20,369 visitors. The Russian Federation ranks second, contributing 9 percent with 7,089 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom at 8 percent with 6,287 international visitors.
Other significant markets include Germany, China, Australia, Maldives, the United States, France, and Spain.
