The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has expressed its concerns regarding the recent Cabinet reshuffle, stating that it believes the President's decision to change ministerial portfolios was incorrect.
SLPP General Secretary, Sagara Kariyawasam, addressed the media and accused President Ranil Wickremesinghe of making the wrong decision, specifically in removing Keheliya Rambukwella from the position of Minister of Health.
Kariyawasam mentioned that false allegations were made against Minister Keheliya, which were subsequently proven to be untrue.
However, the President may have believed that making changes in this regard was the appropriate course of action. Kariyawasam also expressed concerns about the appointment of Dr. Ramesh Pathirana as the new Minister of Health, and informed President Wickremesinghe about the SLPP's dissatisfaction with this decision.
In addition, Kariyawasam voiced the party's displeasure with the appointments of two members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to both Cabinet and non-Cabinet positions, emphasizing that they are not hesitant to criticize the President for what they perceive as incorrect decisions.
