The Health Inspectors Union has decided to undertake a token strike tomorrow (23) over several demands.
According to Union Head Upul Rohana, this strike aims to draw attention to the non-provision of positive solutions to the various issues faced by public health inspectors.
One of the key concerns is the failure to increase mileage rent and transportation allowance provided for field duties. These allowances have not kept pace with the rising cost of living, fuel prices, and motorcycle maintenance costs, leading to financial difficulties for public health inspectors.
"To articulate their grievances, the association has chosen to engage in trade union action," the Union Head added.
However, selected health institutions, such as the port, airport, blood bank, expectant hospital, children's hospital, kidney unit, and training activities, will not be hampered owing to the strike action.
