Stocks in Sri Lanka experienced a decline in mid-day trading, moving from a positive opening to a negative sentiment.
The turnover for the day reached 216 million. The All Share Price Index dropped by 0.16 percent or 16.86 points to 10,796.17, while the S&P SL20 decreased by 0.33 percent or 10.03 points to 3,032.07.
An analyst noted that the market was down by about 19 points, attributing it to weak sentiment and potential delays in call-in rates and debt restructuring. Despite some interest in the blue-chip John Keells, overall investor interest remained low.
The market seemed cautious, with investors waiting for the upcoming budget and the completion of debt restructuring.
