A 49-year-old individual, wanted in connection with several shooting incidents in Kandana, was killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Sapugaskanda last night.
Police said that Kandana Police officers conducted a raid at a residence to apprehend a suspect linked to a shooting incident that occurred in Polpithimukalana, Kandana, on October 5.
During the raid, the suspect opened fire on the police, resulting in the police returning fire, which led to the suspect's death.
The body of the deceased, a resident of Angoda, has been placed in the mortuary of Kiribathgoda Hospital.
Further investigations are being carried out by Sapugaskanda Police under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Kelaniya Division.
