A tragic incident unfolded as a 24-year-old female police constable lost her life in a head-on collision between her motorcycle and a tipper truck near Thalakiriagama Temple on the Ambepussa - Trincomalee road in Galewela.
Despite being rushed to Dambulla Hospital, the injured woman constable could not survive.
The deceased police constable, who was stationed at Point Pedro Police Station, was off-duty and en route to her home when the accident occurred.
The driver of the tipper truck has been arrested in connection with the accident."
