The Sri Lanka Navy has captured six individuals who were found in possession of a highly advanced satellite device while sailing in the deep seas near Dondra Head.
This operation was conducted based on a tip-off received by the Navy. After being presented before Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage on Sunday, the Police Narcotics Bureau was granted permission to detain the group until October 14 for further investigation.
The police suspect that the individuals may have been involved in transporting heroin due to the advanced nature of the satellite device.
Moreover, the police have discovered three SIM cards among the confiscated items and are currently conducting investigations related to them.
