In response to the recent attacks and escalating violence in Israel and Palestine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the loss of life in the region.
Sri Lanka has called an immediate cessation of violence and urging all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further harm to civilians.
“Sri Lanka remains committed to supporting a negotiated settlement in line with internationally agreed parameters of two states living side by side on the basis of the 1967 borders”, the statement added.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost loved ones and expressed sympathy for the affected families who have suffered due to the ongoing conflict.
Sri Lanka's Missions in Tel Aviv and Ramallah are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with Sri Lankan citizens residing in the affected areas.
It has been reported that one Sri Lankan has sustained minor injuries as a result of the violence.
