A harrowing head-on collision between two buses in the Magalkanda area of Beruwala resulted in six individuals sustaining injuries last night.

The incident involved a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus traveling from Kataragama to Colombo and a luxury bus on its way from Colombo to Galle.

According to the Beruwala police, the injured passengers, along with the driver of the luxury bus, were swiftly transported to Kalutara Teaching Hospital for immediate medical attention. A spokesperson from the hospital confirmed that all injured individuals were admitted and are currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigations conducted by traffic officers have revealed that the SLTB bus, while attempting to overtake a motorcycle, collided head-on with the luxury bus traveling in the opposite direction. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles and left the passengers in the luxury bus with various injuries.

In light of the incident, the SLTB bus driver has been apprehended by authorities. He is set to appear before the Kalutara Magistrate today to face legal proceedings.
