Sri Lanka has achieved its highest export revenue in a single month for this year, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

In August 2023, Sri Lanka earned over USD 1,000 million from exports, with a total revenue of USD 1,119 million. However, when compared to the same period last year, the export revenue for August 2023 is 8.7% lower.

This decrease in revenue is primarily attributed to a decline in demand for local products in international markets. From January to August 2023, Sri Lanka's total export revenue amounted to USD 8,010 million.

Although this is still a significant amount, it represents a 10.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2022.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka is monitoring the situation closely and working to address the challenges faced by the country's exporters
