Sri Lankan Cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka who was acquitted of sexual assault charges by a Sydney Court in Australia, is scheduled to return to Sri Lanka today following an absence of 11 months.

The allegations stemmed from an incident in November, where Gunathilaka was accused of assaulting a Sydney woman at her home after a Tinder date.

Last week, Judge Sarah Huggett delivered a not guilty verdict in Sydney's Downing Centre district court.

Gunathilaka, who has represented Sri Lanka in more than 100 matches, including eight Tests, had been suspended from competitive cricket during his arrest.

Following his acquittal, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced its intention to discuss lifting the temporary ban that had been imposed on Danushka Gunathilaka.
