Sri Lanka's mixed 4x400m relay team at the Asian Games disqualified for a lane infringement, despite initially securing a Silver medal.
The Sri Lankan team, consisting of Anura Darshana, Nadeesha Ramanayake, Kalinga Kuamrage, and Tharushi Dissanayake, achieved an impressive time of 3 minutes and 14.25 seconds. However, their joy was short-lived as they were subsequently disqualified. The disqualification resulted from the revelation that Darshana, who ran the first lap in lane three, had crossed into lane two while exchanging the baton.
Bahrain claimed the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes and 14.02 seconds. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan, initially finishing fourth with a season's best time of 3 minutes and 24.85 seconds, was promoted to the Bronze medal position.
