Another police constable, believed to have played a role in aiding the escape plan of Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, also known as 'Harak Kata,' who is currently held in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been arrested.

Police said that the CID has taken the suspect constable into custody, and he is to be transferred to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) for further interrogation.

Nadun Chinthaka had previously attempted to break free from custody by forcibly taking a firearm from a Sub-Inspector during questioning by the CID.

In the aftermath of this failed escape attempt by 'Harak Kata,' a police constable who had allegedly aided him in his getaway had disappeared.

Earlier, the CID had already arrested several individuals for their alleged involvement in aiding and abetting the police constable who assisted ‘Harak Kata’ in escaping CID custody. Among those detained were the mother and brother-in-law of the said police constable.

Efforts to apprehend the implicated Police Constable are still ongoing. Nevertheless, there are reports suggesting that he may have already departed the country.
