A police constable was injured and subsequently hospitalized after being struck by a car driven by a former Moratuwa UNP municipal councilor.
The injured police constable was assigned to the traffic section of the Mount Lavinia Police Station. He was crossing the road along the yellow line in front of the Police Station when the accident occurred. Police said the councilor was traveling from Moratuwa to Dehiwala at high speed when the accident occured.
The former municipal councilor responsible for the car accident has been arrested by the police.
