Sinopec, a leading Chinese fuel retailer, is set to make its mark in the oil refining industry in Sri Lanka.
According to Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Company Ltd will commence operations in the local oil refining market in October of this year. The announcement was made during a Sinopec dealer felicitation ceremony held in Colombo.
Minister Wijesekera revealed that the company's plans to enter the local refining industry will be finalized in the coming month. Sinopec has already established itself as a major player in the Sri Lankan fuel retail market, and this new venture into oil refining further solidifies their presence in the country's energy sector.
