In the month of September, more than 2,000 cases of dengue fever have been reported so far, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The NDCU further revealed that a total of 2,300 cases have been recorded in the days that have passed this month.
Health authorities have identified the ongoing inclement weather as a contributing factor to the rise in dengue cases. However, they also noted that the current figures remain comparatively lower than those reported in recent months.
With a total of 63,881 cases reported in 2023, dengue fever continues to pose a significant public health concern.
Despite efforts to reduce the number of high-risk zones, currently limited to seven localities, health officials caution that there is still a potential for an increase in infections.
The NDCU advises individuals to remain vigilant and follow recommended preventive measures, such as eliminating mosquito breeding sites and using mosquito repellent.
They emphasize the importance of early detection and seeking medical attention if any symptoms of dengue fever, such as high fever, severe headache, and joint pain, manifest.
