A total of 45 out of 89 cases filed by the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission last year have been withdrawn for various reasons, according to the Auditor General's Department.
However, a report issued by the department indicates that only 20 cases have been reassigned.
Meanwhile, the report reveals that in 2021, the accused in 18 cases filed by the Bribery Commission were acquitted, while only the accused in 11 cases were found guilty.
The Audit Office notes that the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission concluded 69 cases last year, but 40 of these cases were later withdrawn, accounting for 58 percent of the total number of cases.
Furthermore, the report reveals that there were 1,508 pending files in the legal department of the commission, with 489 of them dating back more than five years.
The Department points out that as of December 31 last year, 926 unfinished files remained, but reports regarding them had not been submitted to the audit.
