An underworld gangster, Priyantha Sirinanda, also known as 'Weli Suda,' was arrested by the Special Task Force of the Police (STF) during a raid in Mulleriyawa while in possession of an Italian-made semi-automatic pistol.
The raid was conducted by the Special Operations Division 1 at a residence near Ambatale Junction in Angoda, Mulleriyawa, based on information provided by Chief Inspector Wijayaratne, the Station Commander of the Special Task Force.
During the operation, the STF confiscated a BRUNI MOD 92mm Italian-made pistol with a magazine.
The 50-year-old suspect, a resident of Angoda, is believed to have been preparing for a criminal act.
The STF has handed the suspect, along with the semi-automatic pistol and magazine, to the Mulleriyawa Police for further investigation.
