The Sri Lanka Navy has highlighted the significance of visits by foreign naval ships, citing their crucial role in promoting collaboration among naval forces.
This was underscored following the recent departure of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Nireekshak, which arrived in Trincomalee last week and engaged in a variety of activities during its stay.
INS Nireekshak made its formal visit to Sri Lanka, commencing on September 14 and concluding on September 21. One of the primary highlights of this visit was the engagement of the Diving Support Vessel, INS Nireekshak, in various diving training activities alongside the Sri Lanka Navy Diving Unit.
In addition to these training activities, the crew of the visiting vessel actively participated in various recreational and social engagement events. This included a basketball game, yoga sessions, and a beach cleanup effort, all of which were conducted in Trincomalee. These activities not only strengthened camaraderie but also demonstrated their commitment to social responsibility.
Furthermore, INS Nireekshak welcomed officer trainees and personnel from the Sri Lanka Navy, as well as local school children from the area, providing them with the unique opportunity to explore the vessel and gain insights into naval operations.
The Sri Lanka Navy emphasized that such visits serve as excellent platforms for training activities, enabling the exchange of knowledge and information about the respective naval environments.
