Acting Defense Minister Pramitha Bandara Thennakoon has expressed concerns in Parliament that the country may face future attacks similar to the tragic events of Easter Sunday.
In his speech, he emphasized that as long as individuals with extremist ideologies exist both within and outside the country, it cannot be assumed that the Easter Sunday attack was the last of its kind.
The minister highlighted the continuous efforts of intelligence agencies, working tirelessly day and night, to track down individuals associated with extremist sentiments.
Regarding the recent mention of the word "Sonic" in Parliament, the minister clarified that it is a code name for an intelligence officer. He revealed that he personally infiltrated the terrorist network, gathering crucial information by assuming the role of a terrorist.
The minister also stressed the importance of having a mature parliament capable of comprehending the intricacies of such matters.
