A shooting victim, who had been receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital, has died from his injuries nearly three weeks after being shot.

The 38-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting incident near the Pensions Department in Maligawatta on September 1st. The attack occurred when two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on the victim near his motorcycle repair shop.

Following the incident, a 20-year-old suspect was apprehended by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) in connection with the crime.

The victim, known as "Maligawatte Pradeep," was identified as a relative of a criminal gang member and drug peddler nicknamed "Panchikawate Neville."

Authorities suspect that the shooting was carried out by the "Keselwatta Dinuka" gang as an act of revenge.
