The Poppy Flower was ceremonially pinned on Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne by President of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association (SLESA) Major General Upul Perera (Retd) today (Sep 19).

The Poppy Flower was pinned on the Defence Secretary when a group of SLEASA representatives met him at the Defence Ministry at the Defence Headquarters Complex in Akuragoda this afternoon.
 
Gen. Gunaratne also had a cordial discussion with the SLESA delegation during the occasion.

The Poppy Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to commemorate the fallen armed forces personnel whilst on duty. Ministry of defence
