The Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate, Nalaka Sanjeewa Jayasuriya, has issued a directive to the Anuradhapura Police for the immediate arrest of all individuals involved in the recent shooting incident targeting the vehicle of Member of Parliament, Uddika Premaratne.
Additionally, the Chief Magistrate has ordered the utilization of police intelligence units and private investigators to assist in identifying the culprits responsible for the attack.
The court has also requested regular updates from the police on the progress of the investigation into this incident.
This order follows a comprehensive report presented by the Anuradhapura Police, outlining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
An unidentified gunman opened fire at the vehicle of SLPP MP Uddika Premaratne shortly after he had returned to his residence in Anuradhapura on Sunday night (17).
Fortunately, the MP escaped unhurt.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the CID.
