Sinopec, the fuel company, has announced that it will commence operations across the entire island by the end of September, according to Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara. 

The minister met with officials from Sinopec Fuel and Refinery Operations at the Ministry of Power and Energy today (03) to discuss various matters. 

Wijesekara shared on Twitter that the meeting covered topics such as the progress of retail operations, agreements with dealerships, branding, and the start of islandwide operations. 

In addition, Sinopec Refinery officials have expressed their commitment to establishing a new refinery in Hambantota. They have assured that they will submit the Request for Proposal (RFP) before the upcoming deadline next week, as stated by the minister.
